Scientifc Analysis Materials Limited was farmed as a vehicle for the scientific analysis group of companies to acquire the Millbrook MiniSims Business.

Over the years, Millbrook has been recognised for its achievements in developing the MiniSIMS (originally known as the Chemical Microscope). Most significantly, Millbrook won the Annual Achievement Award of the Scientific Instrument Makers' Company in December 1999. This Award is given each year in recognition of the single product that is judged to have made the greatest contribution to the British scientific instrument industry. The instrument design was awarded Millennium Product status by the UK Design Council in 1998. In 2000, the MiniSIMS was named as one of R&D Magazine's Top 100 Products, which represent the most technologically significant products going on sale in the USA during the year.

Millbrook has also won numerous awards for achievements in overseas trade. The highest accolade was in April 2005, when the company won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in International Trade in recognition of outstanding sustained growth in export sales.
